The 2025 Volkswagen ID.Buzz all-electric van is turning heads and tugging at nostalgic heartstrings. Its charming and classic styling lines are reminiscent of the old VW bus of the 1950s and 60s. But with its electric motor and high-tech interior, it is firmly planted in the 21st century.
EV Motor and Performance
The Volkswagen ID.Buzz comes standard with a rear-wheel drive single-motor configuration and is available in an all-wheel drive dual-motor configuration. The single-motor configuration produces 282 horsepower, while the all-wheel drive dual-motor configuration comes in at a heftier 335 horsepower. Acceleration from a stop is quick and the braking is smooth and even. Around town, the ID.Buzz is easy to maneuver due to its light steering and standard 20-inch wheels.
Battery, Range, and Charging
The Volkswagen ID.Buzz is equipped with a 91 kWh lithium-ion battery pack with 200 kW DC fast charging capability. The EPA-estimated range for the single-motor configuration is 234 miles, while the two-motor all-wheel drive configuration clocks in at 231 miles. Charging is quick, with the vehicle charging from 20% to 80% in 26 minutes with a 200 kW DC fast charger.
Interior, Comfort, and Cargo Room
When it comes to the interior and comfort, the three-row Volkswagen ID.Buzz really shines. The comfortable front seats come standard with heating, cooling, and massage functions. The optional second-row captain’s chairs are equally comfortable and come heated. A second-row bench seat with a 60-40 spit is also an option. The third row also delivers in the comfort department, offering industry-leading third-row legroom.
The interior cabin is downright cavernous with an airy feel. The front-row seats are perched high with a commanding view of the road. The second-row seats are easily accessible through wide side door openings. Gaining access to the roomy third row is also quite easy. Cargo space behind the rear seats is very organized, with a raised load floor with removable fabric bins beneath. When the third row seats are removed and the second row folded, total cargo space amounts to 145.5 cubic feet.
Infotainment and Connectivity
The Volkswagen ID.Buzz sports a 12.9-inch touchscreen multi-function center display with crisp, large icons. Wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Sirius XM are standard, as is a wireless charging station. USB-C charging in all three rows is also standard.
Safety
The Volkswagen ID.Buzz comes with a host of driver assist technology. Active blind spot monitoring with rear traffic alert, road sign recognition, and IQ.DRIVE Travel Assist with semi-automated driving assistance are all standard.
